Philosophy & Training Programme

Whether your goals include enhanced athletic performance, weight loss, health and longevity, or just upgrading your training, our mission is to enable you to look, feel and perform at your best. We train mostly in a group setting, whether it be in one of our CrossFit programmes, strength and conditioning groups, olympic weightlifting sessions or senior strength & mobility class. However at PTI we are different to other gyms that coach groups as we realise that each person that comes through our doors presents with a starting point, ability level and goals different to the next person. For this reason our group sessions are designed with the flexibility to meet those needs that will help the novice trainee progress alongside the experienced athlete. Our programming provides various appropriate training stresses so that our members can progress to higher levels of fitness over time.

We use individual athlete assessments throughout our testing periods to help us determine our members strengths/weaknesses and specific levels of fitness. This then helps us identify what that person needs to move forward in their training.

Our CrossFit group coaching program allows our members to choose from three different paths to achieve their goals:

Fitness programme:
As the name implies, these workouts are designed to promote and enhance your health and fitness. During a “Fitness” workout, participants are exposed to a wide variety of movements with a focus on improving their mechanics without a large emphasis on intensity. The “Fitness” workouts are great for beginners because they focus on movement quality rather than intensity, although the “Fitness” workouts are not just for beginners. We also provide “Fitness” workouts for members looking to train for body composition goals only. Like all of our training options, these workouts are scalable and can be made as challenging as one could imagine. This program is perfect for the individual looking to develop strength, muscle tone and initial fitness levels.

Performance programme:
These workouts include a greater degree of intensity and complexity. You’ll be exposed to the best that the world of strength and conditioning has to offer – gymnastics, Olympic weightlifting, cardiovascular endurance, plyometrics and sprinting; all proven methods for getting individuals strong, fast and fit. Your coach will provide you with the tools to reach new strength levels and push yourself beyond what you thought was achievable. If you’re looking to take your fitness to the next level, this is an excellent programme.

Competition programme:
The sport of CrossFit is one of the fastest growing, most exciting opportunities out there for athletes looking to push the boundaries of their own performance. Like any sport, CrossFit demands high levels of skill and coordination as well as strength, speed, power and endurance. Our competition program is designed to help athletes prepare for elements likely to be contested in the sport of CrossFit, as well as prepare them to be as adept and well-rounded as possible to excel in unknown elements of our growing sport. If you are interested in developing as a CrossFit athlete this is the programme for you.

To put it simply we provide various training programmes for our members instead of a ‘one size fits all’ group exercise class.

We also offer individual coaching options such as one to one training and couples training.
